Project area C: Consequences
Chronic inflammation is a frequent cause of cancer, and liver cancer is the most common inflammation-induced malignancy. However, it is largely unknown how and why chronic liver inflammation induces carcinogenesis. Indeed, the various inflammatory liver diseases bear substantially different risks of malignant transformation. The projects in project area C investigate the mechanisms behind inflammatory liver carcinogenesis. The aim is to develop strategies for early intervention or even prevention of liver cancer.
