A new promising treatment strategy? Inflammation inhibitor prevents liver cancer
Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is one of the most frequent tumors worldwide with rising incidence. Dr. Schmidt-Arras explains that specific inhibition of the IL-6 trans-signaling is sufficient to impair tumor progression.

Fatty Liver - Disease Patterns of the Liver Episode 1
Fatty Liver - Disease Patterns of the Liver Episode 1
Fatty liver is a common disease. It can progress to inflammation and liver cirrhosis. But diagnosed early enough it is possible to stop or even reverse disease progression solely by a change of the lifestyle.
In the focus of research: the liver
In the focus of research: the liver
It is the central metabolic organ and has unique features. The liver is vital, but liver disorders are silently on the rise: fatty liver, liver cirrhosis, liver cancer, hepatitis. In the Collaborative Research Center 841 "Liver Inflammation" scientists discover the secrets of that fascinating organ. They want to better understand the pathogenic processes in the liver cells and to develop the basics of new therapeutic strategies.

Liver inflammation
Infection, immune regulation und consequences
Within the Collaborative Research Centre 841 “Liver inflammation: infection, immune regulation and consequences” scientists decipher the complex interplay between liver injury, inflammation and repair. The aim is to develop new approaches for the diagnosis and treatment of inflammatory liver diseases. The CRC 841 started in early 2009 and is currently in the second funding period (2014-2017) of the German Research Foundation. Read more…
