2nd Symposium for Upper Secondary Students on 15 June 2012
27 February 2012
Under the motto “Research – Medicine – Career Perspectives”, scientists of the Collaborative Research Centre SFB 841 will open their doors to upper secondary students. The aim of the event, which will be held on 15 June 2012, is to give the students behind-the-scenes insight into the scientists’ work. Using examples of particular cases, the researchers will explain the terms inflammatory liver disease and autoimmune liver disease and present specific research projects. Furthermore, the students will be given an introduction into basic immunological principles. In a guided tour through the labs the students can visit the workplaces of the scientists and learn about the methods and techniques that are being used. To conclude the event, a biologist and two physicians (male and female) will describe from a personal perspective what it is like to work in the field of biomedicine.
Interested school classes that have a profile in biology or are taking an advanced-level biology course may apply; the deadline is 30 March 2012. In case the number of applications exceeds the number of places offered, a selection will take place based on the following criteria: the date of the application and the relevance of the courses studied at school.
The application form, further information and the preliminary programme can be found here (currently only available in German).
